Polimi team wins the first edition of Climathon Milan

A multidisciplinary team composed of NRM PhD students Simona Denaro, Francesca Recanati, and Andrea Cominola, Polimi Post-doc Luciana Cezarino, and Polimi PhD student Eylül Kilsedar won the first edition of Climathon Milan!

Climathon is an international challenge on climate change, simultaneously hosted on 27/28 Oct in over 120 cities worldwide. Climathon participants develop innovative ideas and solutions to local challenges posed by climate change. The only constraint is time: teams only have 24 hours to develop and present their idea. After 24 intense hours of collaboration, excitement and brain-squeezing, a jury of relevant local stakeholders selected the best idea in each city.

Climathon Milan, hosted at ComoNExt, challenged participants to develop solutions to improve the integrated management of water resources in the Lombardy region.

The idea proposed by the winning team is AquaMi: a social system to foster water saving and awareness among citizens in Milan through web-based and real-world gaming mechanisms. The winning team gained the opportunity to present the idea to representatives of the Municipality in Milan, and develop a business plan together with ComoNExT!
